Just a Few More Weeks
The next few weeks are going to be crucial to the passage of Trumpcare. Here’s why:
Mitch McConnell extended the legislative session for an extra two weeks for the express purpose of trying to ram this bill through. He knows that if Senators go home to their constituents and have to face their concerns during August recess there will be even more problems for it.
If we can resist this new version of Trumpcare for the following few weeks, and prevent a vote from taking place before August recess, it will signal the end for these repeal bills. When Congress reconvenes in September, the 2018 midterm elections will be looming too closely to push anything as unpopular as Trumpcare.
A procedural vote on the measure could take place as soon as tomorrow. That means the voting could occur this week.
What you can do1. SIGN UP here to call voters in red states with key senators to remind them to tell their Senator to vote NO on the healthcare repeal bill.
2. CALL, CALL CALL your own senators! I know we say it all the time, but please take a moment this week to reach out and let them know how you feel about this repeal bill, even if you are in a blue state. If you don't have your senators' numbers on speed dial by now: Capitol Switchboard 202-224-3121
