Regulations protect humans: Oppose the Regulatory "Accountability" Act!
Electric vehicles seem like progressives' best friend, right? What could go wrong in deregulating that industry? As a matter of fact, lots. One set of regulations that had to be imposed on makers of EVs—added noise so that pedestrians wouldn't get hit by cars that are virtually noiseless. Trump has, of course, ordered an entire team to deregulate industry on his watch.
As Americans know all too well, the price of delayed or inadequate regulation can be very steep: the financial crisis of 2008 cost the U.S. economy trillions of dollars and millions of jobs, and led to millions of families losing their homes.
The Regulatory Accountability Act, which clears the way for industry to have its way with the consumer safety net in all sorts of domains, has passed the House, and has a real chance of being approved by the Senate and signed into law by Donald Trump.
This dangerous legislation requires federal agencies to go through a maze of new hurdles – including dozens of studies, skewed in favor of Wall Street and corporate interests – before any consideration of laws that might protect public interest.
The toys your kids play with, the cars you drive in--everything is up for grabs. The Regulatory Accountability Act has been called the biggest threat to consumer safety pending in Congress.

Please help us defeat this dangerous special-interest legislation, which would make it impossible for federal agencies to write rules to hold Wall Street accountable, and have a devastating impact on health, safety, and environmental protections as well
