Taxes Passed Yesterday in the House; Senate Vote in Next Week

You are Probably Among the 36 Million Families Whose Taxes Will Go Up Under the House Bill that Passed Yesterday.

We borrowed the title from this article, but It's no exaggeration. According to the Center for American Progress (CAP) 36 million working- and middle-class households would see a tax increase by 2027 under the House tax bill - the bill that passed Thursday.

Now is the time to call your Senators, and tell them you oppose their version of this tax bill--they will vote in the next week and a half.

The Senate bill is even worse than the House bill, with a provision to get rid of the healthcare mandate, meaning a hike in premiums across the board.

Here's the timeline for what's next - hit these Senators up and tell them to vote NO to this tax scam. How many different ways can we say it? This bill delivers a permanent corporate tax cut at the expense of working and middle class families.

11/13-11/17:Tax bill markup in Senate Finance Committee

11/18-11/26: Thanksgiving Recess

11/27-12/1: Possible vote on tax bill in the Senate

Enough said here, time to call.

I am calling to let Senator _____know that I am horrified by the current proposed overhaul of the tax code. The inclusion of repealing the individual mandate for healthcare will gut our current system. This bill's main achievement is delivering a permanent corporate tax cut at the expense of working and middle class families. I expect my Senator to vote against the proposed tax code. Thanks for your time.
